Aaron Teys of Warilla bolted out of the blocks in the final against South Tamworth’s Chris Herden on Thursday.
Teys opened up a commanding 18-1 lead.
To his credit though, Herden fought back to close the gap to seven.
But Teys hit another gear to eventually take the win 31-21.
It was a massive week of competition for Herden, although losing out in the singles final he claimed victory earlier in the week in the pairs event.
Port Macquarie City Bowling Club’s bowls coordinator Phil Baker said it was an outstanding week of competition.
“We had some massive names here,” he said.
“It also helped that we had great weather all week which meant we had some big crowds too.
“Everything went really well, it was a great tournament.”
Bowls NSW president Vince Beard was on hand to assist with the presentation.
Baker said the tournament rounds out the year for competitions.
“We’ve pretty much finished for the year now,” he said.
“Things will get back underway next year around March.”
