Tony Jones, 59, of Wauchope was sentenced by Judge Leonie Flannery this week to three years in prison with a non parole period of two years after pleading guilty earlier this year to child molestation offences.
Jones was named a person of interest by Strike Force Rosann, the team leading the investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell from his grandmother's Kendall home on September 12, 2014.
As a part of their investigations, it was revealed Jones was a former member of the group Grandparents As Parents Again (GAPA). Detectives travelled to the Mid North Coast in April to interview the group's members.
Jones, who served 12 months under protective custody prior to sentencing, will become eligible for parole on September 26, 2016.
