The old restaurant was located on Gordon Street and closed permanently in 2005, with burger lovers outraged.
Ever since the doors shut the call has been out to bring the fast-food franchise back to town, with a Facebook page created to support the campaign receiving thousands of likes.
Later this year those wishes will be granted with construction currently well under away for the new restaurant, again located on Gordon Street but not at the old site. No opening date has been announced yet.
"Hungry Jack's Port Macquarie is planned to open in the coming months and will create more than 60 jobs for the local community," a statement released by Hungry Jacks said.
"The new restaurant will provide Port Macquarie residents the same fresh, great tasting food it serves at more than 380 restaurants Australia-wide."
It is that creation of 60 jobs that has many locals excited, including 18-year-old Josh Dunn. The new father has struggled to nail down a job but will be applying for a role at the new store and hopes he will be successful.
"It's hard to find work around Port Macquarie, especially for early school leavers like myself," he said.
"You have to have a certain amount of study for jobs, or a certain amount of experience. It can be really tough. I'll definitely apply for a job."
