YOUR vote could send one of the 20 finalists in the Tastings on Hastings BioCup Art Series from obscurity to exposure on 1 million BioPak cups.
The top 20 designs chosen from more than 40 entries received were unveiled for public voting at the Hay Street Real Food Markets yesterday and will be on display at the Port Macquarie-Hastings Library from today until August 29, and on the Tastings on Hastings website at www.tastingsonhastings.com.au/biocup-vote
"They are much more creative and skillfull than I could ever hope to be," said mayor Peter Besseling.
"It never ceases to amaze me the talent we have in this area."
Councillor Besseling, Port Macquarie artist Jim Matsinos (whose coffee plant design was chosen for series 3 of the BioCup Art Series), Tastings on Hastings coordinator Necia Waghorn and local BioPak cup distributor Stewart Clark of Doppio or Nothing, had the difficult task of culling the entries to the top 20.
Designs included collages, mixed media, watercolours, acrylics, photographs, graphics and crayon with a 14-, 10-, and two-year-old among the finalists.

The brief was to showcase the abundance of the Hastings region and be inspired by themes of produce, sustainability and nature.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor Peter Besseling said it was now up to the community to vote for their favourite.
"It's fantastic that Tastings on Hastings has teamed up with event sustainability partner BioPak to give local artists the chance to shine a spotlight on the beauty of the region with a million compostable coffee cups featuring the winning design to be distributed right across Australia and New Zealand," Mr Besseling said.
The top 10 from the public vote will be sent to BioPak headquarters in Sydney to select the winner, who will be announced at the Tastings on Hastings Love Food Hate Waste cooking demonstration with celebrity chef Matt Moran on Saturday, November 7.
Everyone is encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork online or at the library.
