Matthew Peter Haydon, 30, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Frederickton.
Police facts showed he surprised a woman after allegedly appearing in her backyard about 2.30pm. He jumped the fence and allegedly later stole a BMX.
Police chased him down Macleay Street and eventually caught him after an alleged struggle.
Officers also found a case which they allege Haydon dumped during the pursuit.
Inside they found a number of items of interest.
Police allege housebreaking tools and bags of drugs, including 5.3 grams of the drug ice and 4.8 gm of heroin, were in the case. They also allegedly found a 6.1 gm gold nugget.
Haydon has been charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and five counts of entering inclosed land without permission.
He has been charged with assaulting an officer, resisting and officer and possessing housebreaking implements.
Two counts of having suspected stolen goods in his custody have also been levelled at the Jubilee Lane resident.
He did not apply for bail in Port Macquarie Local Court on Friday.
As his client sat in the dock in a striped shirt, duty solicitor Stephen Wright said Haydon “concedes he is on bail until the 24th of October”.
The matter has been adjourned to the same court on Wednesday.
