The flagship event on the club's calendar will attract competitors from "all over the place", in the words of publicity officer Lesley Langer, as they vie for success.
Organisers won't know for sure who will attend until competitors turn up and register at the club's Lady Nelson Drive headquarters tomorrow.
Along with individual classes, shooters will also compete in the Robert and Libby Clarke Team Challenge again this year.
The rules have been changed slightly for the teams event this year. Each team must have a shooter from AA, A, B and C grades.
The aggregate score of the shooters is taken, and $400 is up for grabs.
The shooting will be on rain, hail or shine.
"We don't care," Langer said.
Any wind will play havoc with the targets.
"It sorts the men from the boys," Langer said.
The only thing that will call the shooting off is lightning.
There's no cost to camp out at the club, so many competitors will save on accommodation and stay at the shoot.
Camaraderie among the shooters is a big reason to turn up.
There's a lot of information to be shared, with shooters keen to pass on their knowledge to new members.
Whether you've been shooting five minutes or 50 years, you'll be treated the same.
"Everyone is treated equally," Langer said.
The club's competition days are on the first Sunday of every month. Coaching is also available.
Club members want to get the word out that the range isn't closed. The only discipline not shooting at Port Macquarie at the moment is the big bores.
There is small bore, pistol, silo pistol, hunters club, Sporting Shooters Association of Australia and the clay target club.
"People think the range is closed, but it's not," Langer said.
