At the weekend they couldn't quite repeat history at the Jambaroo Adventure Park near Wollongong.
Although Kiama were crowned the overall winners, the Port Macquarie-Hastings team were able to compete at the highest level and showcase their skills and rescue ability
Each team consists of six members, and includes a Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader, First Aid Officer and three others.
The local Port Macquarie Hastings team, included Michael Ward as Team Leader, Michael Brumby as Deputy Team Leader, Katrina Hitch as First Aid Officer and Scott Witchard, Sereena Amos and Mark Anderson.
The competition involved nine separate disaster scenarios held over the two days and included activities such as Rescue from Depths, Rescue from Heights, INSARAG Mapping and Marking, Mass Casualty and Urban Search and Rescue.
Each scenario lasts for up to an hour, which includes a Briefing, Reconnaissance Phase, Action Phase and a Debrief.
Unit controller Kevin Sherwood said to be able to compete in the State Competition each team member demonstrated the highest degree of skill level and commitment.
"It also gives us the ability to showcases the level of training our team members receive at the Port Macquarie SES Unit.
"All our team members remained positive throughout the competition and did a fantastic job under some very difficult and challenging scenarios.
"I'm very proud of all our team," he said.
