The plan is to bring forward by one hour the exposure of children to these aspects of life.
It should be resisted because the adverse impact on impressionable children will, despite parental guidance, be greater.
Research confirms that the "normalisation" of violence, in particular, compounds the problems that lead to domestic violence and the potential involvement in a range of anti-social behaviours.
The intention to also allow earlier advertisement of alcohol will bring similar issues.
Abuse of alcohol and the adverse affects on developing brains are well recognised problems with huge personal and societal costs.
The "adult violence" classification that depicts violence in some detail is also planned to be removed.
The existing constraints on the broadcasting of alcohol advertisements, sex, nudity and swearing allow interested adults the opportunity to decide to view these adult issues if we wish.
We must protect our rights but also cherish our children and their futures. The proposed changes are not yet approved.
