Rain didn't dampen the occasion, it just moved the party on as more than 150 fans began the night on the Kendall Tennis Club's court before watching at the RSL Services and Citizens Club.

They packed into the tennis clubhouse for the final set and made plenty of noise when Andy Murray hit a backhand into the net, sealing victory for Djokovic.

"They erupted," club president Wendy Hudson said.

"The excitement, that took a little while to come down from."

Things didn't look as rosy at the start of the third set when Djokovic was struggling with the physicality of the match.

"It was really odd," Hudson said.

"He won 11 games straight. Murray seemed to go off a bit."

Some of the spectators were struggling themselves, with plenty of kids staying up well past their usual bedtime to watch the win.

"We're a big club of young families," Hudson said.

Kendall's Djokovic created history in the process, as it was the first time the last set in a men's final had ended with a 6-0 scoreline.

Murray made some history of his own as the first man in the open era to lose four title deciders at the Australian Open.

A second straight Australian Open Blitz win allowed Djokovic to represent the tennis-mad town.

Hudson was chuffed, and pleased to be associated with the community.

"We were spurred on by the fact we didn't win it last year," she said, referring to 2014 when Rafael Nadal represented Kendall.

"Everyone was keen to do it again."

The club's focus now moves to the construction of new courts for its members. Hudson is after more funding and sponsorship to get the job done.
