A PASSING motorist who helped a woman after she was allegedly stabbed last year has been asked to contact police.

Detectives said the 26-year-old woman was stabbed by a man she knew inside her William Street apartment about 6.30am on December 13.
She managed to make it outside and grab a lift from a man driving past to Port Macquarie Police Station. Ambulance officers treated her there and then she went to a medical centre.
On December 15 the alleged stabber was arrested and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as aggravated break and enter with the intent to commit a serious indictable offence.
The 38-year-old was refused bail in Port Macquarie Local Court and will next appear on February 19.
