Festival of the Sun's 10th anniversary edition had a relatively low amount of arrests, Sergeant John Lawrie said.
Police searched more than 30 people for 14 arrests for possession of drugs including ecstasy, cannabis and methylamphetamine.
Most of the searches were on Saturday when the dog squad visited the festival.
Nine people who were allegedly misbehaving around the event's fences were issued with move-on orders.
Another nine were charged with trespassing for fence-jumping, which Mr Lawrie said was "pretty low compared to previous years".
Three people were hit with offensive behaviour charges, and the same number were charged with underage drinking.
Police said the festival's BYO policy led people to take greater responsibility for their actions.
"It's a unique event in how people take responsibility for their own consumption of alcohol," Mr Lawrie said.
"To not have any assaults or any serious public order issues, we're fairly happy with that."
But police are not impressed with the number of drug arrests, with nearly half of those searched charged.
"We're obviously happy with the lack of underage drinking, but what concerns us is the use of drugs," Mr Lawrie said.
"We'll debrief with the organisers and look at any improvements that can be made in terms of lighting some areas or any drug issues."
The licensing specialist said organisers do a very reasonable job of reducing harm.
The NSW Ambulance Service took four punters to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment over the weekend.
