NBN's much-loved Mike Rabbitt has announced he will retire after almost 30 years at the station.

Mr Rabbitt was transferred to Newcastle in 1980 and will officially finish with the company in the next few weeks, joining his wife Sue in retirement.
The news anchor has assured fans he will reappear on occasion and will also be assisting with various projects.
Rabbitt thanked NBN and the people of Newcastle for embracing him over his time with the network.
"NBN Television has been my life and I could not have asked for a better company to work for," Mr Rabbitt said. "It has provided everything to me and I hope I have given some back from time to time.
"I have met so many wonderful people, both sport and community and I will always be grateful of being transferred to Newcastle in 1980, what a great city".
