Amazingly her three children, aged just four, 10 and 13, will all complete an Ironman this year.
It is all in effort to help the John McLean Kids4Kids Foundation, which is a charity helping children get access to wheelchairs and lead active lives.
McLean was a triathlete and had a crash which left him unable to walk. This was the spark which led him to start the charity. The program is endorsed by Triathlon Australia.
"One of the challenges to get able body kids active has been to do an Ironman over a certain number of weeks," Cockshutt said. "My kids, James, Alani and Zachary, are all participating in this challenge.
"James is the youngest and has 12 weeks to complete the challenge of swimming 3.8 kilometres, cycling 180km and running 42.2. Alani and Zachary both have eight weeks to complete the challenge."
Cockshutt was eager to help the cause and was very proud of her children's efforts and enthusiasm with the tough challenge.
"I am very proud of my kids, they are doing amazing," she said. "They don't necessarily do training, just walking the dog, swimming lessons, swimming games, cycling around the park.
"They all add up very quickly. It is just all about getting kids doing a little something everyday."
Her husband, Todd, completed the Port Macquarie Ironman in May this year and after the kids are finished it will be a big milestone for the family.
"Once they complete this challenge the exciting thing for my household is, not only are they healthy and they are raising money for a great cause but, all our family would have completed an Ironman in 2014," she said.
