The Port Macquarie Skate Park opened in December 2011 and has since been hailed as one of the top five skate parks in Australia because of its design.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council General Manager, Tony Hayward was joined at today's opening by Council director infrastructure services, Jeffery Sharp and Lyne MP Rob Oakeshott.
The $700,000 project was partly funded by a $289,000 federal Regional and Local Community and Infrastructure Program (RLCIP) grant.
“The Federal grant funding through the RLCIP initiative has been critical to the delivery of improved infrastructure facilities for our local community. Our skate park is now recognised among the best in NSW and is the largest skate park of its kind between Sydney and south-east Queensland," Mr Hayward said.
