“We will travelling by means of flight,” producer Raph Dixon said.
“But it will be in a plane.”
Almost the entire line-up will make their super hero debut at this year’s 10th birthday FOTSUN, and there are even two visitors on the bill with some local knowledge.
Brisbane’s The Cairos played the festival in 2012 alongside Kimbra, Dead Letter Circus and Hermitude.
But The Jezabels are the festival’s biggest improvers. The Sydney band were on the margins in 2008, shortly after coming second at the Sydney University Band Competition, yet fast forward six years and they’re headlining the grand event.
This year’s set will be their first regional shows this year and marks a triumphant return after extensive North American and European touring this year, including a critically praised show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.
Organisers Simon Luke and Scott Mesiti proved their penchant for the popular with a bill including a cacophony of rawk from perennial Queensland favourites Violet Soho and Dune Rats.
Pub rockers Goons of Doom, troubadour Steve Smyth and Kundabung’s own Tegan Wiseman will also be on hand to entertain the crowd.
The hip hop side of things has traditionally been strong with names including The Herd, Kid Confucius and Spit Syndicate emblazoned on the honour roll.
Jackie Onassis and Allday, who toured together through May and June, are champing at the bit to lead the way this time.
“The Spit Syndicate boys played last year and absolutely loved it,” Mr Dixon said.
“All the musicians stay and hang out together, and when you get a bunch of bands together things can get pretty crazy.”
While Allday hasn’t recorded with the duo yet, Mr Dixon said summer could summon a Sundowner collaboration.
“And as long as I can bring a smile to one child’s face, I’ve done my bit as a super hero,” he said.
Tickets go on sale September 2 at 10am.
