The match was the final of the ordinary competition rounds with the finals series set to kick off this weekend. Unfortunately the Breakers finished outside of the top five which means they miss out on playing finals footy.
But they were not going to let that stop them from putting in a final last ditch effort win the dead rubber. The Breakers took the match 34-28 in the dying seconds.
The game also doubled as several of the club’s senior players last. Coach Josh Hyde, Russell Gordon and Luke Ackroyd all confirmed last week 2014 would be their last for the club.
Fittingly both Hyde and Ackroyd crossed the line with Ackroyd scoring two, his second the match winner.
Gordon’s last game also ended in a highlight with him being sin-binned for backchat.
