A Fire and Rescue NSW Wauchope brigade spokesperson said about 20 residents on the affected floor were relocated to another wing due to smoke.-
"Two engines from Wauchope and one from Port Macquarie attended an auto fire alarm at Bundaleer about 1am on Thursday morning," the spokesperson said.-
"Brigade members used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera - used to check behind doors and in the wall cavity of buildings - to check, locate and then extinguish the fire.-
"There was a failure to an electrically powered sterilising unit in a service room at the nursing home.-
"The 20 affected residents were cared for and moved to another area of the facility by police and paramedic staff."-
The spokesperson said all emergency services personnel worked cohesively.
