The 30-34 year age grouper managed an incredible feat, finishing in a time of eight hours, 43 minutes and one second, which meant he was fourth overall beating home a list of impressive professional athletes.
Fuller, a Port Macquarie Triathlon Club member was humble at the finishing shute.
"I had a good day out there, it went to plan but there were some ups and downs," he said. "The third lap was into the wind and that was a bit of a struggle."
The Ironman said it was an incredible feeling to cross the finishing line.
He said he splits his time between Port Macquarie and Queensland for work but didn't know what was next for him in the way of competing.
"I do uni so there's not a lot of time for training," Fuller said. "I think the main thing at the moment for me will be to have a break.
"And maybe have a few ales."
Fuller was joined at the finishing line by a crowd of supporters and his fiancee Isla McRae.
There will be more coverage of locals in Wednesday's Port News
