Hastings Public School student Cameron Alford wowed a crowd on the Town Green with his voice and ukulele tunes to help Rafael Moraes from Victoria travel to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
It took Cameron just two sets of music to raise $416 for Rafael late last month.
Rafael, diagnosed with the childhood cancer neuroblastoma in 2008, is a passionate soccer player with dreams of attending the World Cup.
"I want to make his dream come true," Cameron said.
Cameron's repertoire in just his third time busking included renditions of You Are My Sunshine, Riptide and Midnight Special.
"They thought it was really great - they loved it," Cameron said about people's response.
"It was really fun."
Cameron thanked people for their donations.
"The donations were great and hopefully he [Rafael] gets to go to the World Cup," he said.
The eight-year-old has been playing the ukulele for a year and has taken up the guitar too.
Cameron's parents Raylene and Derek Alford are proud of their son.
Raylene said Rafael's story resonated with Cameron.
"It struck a chord because Cameron plays soccer and this little boy is a soccer fan," she said.
She said Cameron was just a natural with the ukulele.
"The fact he can sing at the same time, it is a bit of a gift," Mrs Alford said.
Cameron will donate part of his earnings from his first two busking performances to the Qantas Change for Good Program in support of UNICEF.
And Cameron has vowed to keep busking.
"I think it will give me more confidence because I do sing and I sing in front of people," he said.
Cameron is saving money for a bike.
