It will be operated using QantasLink’s 74-seat Q400 aircraft and is planned to start on May 1, 2014.
“Council welcomes today’s announcement by QantasLink which further strengthens the range of competitive air services at Port Macquarie Airport,” Mayor Peter Besseling said.
“The announcement marks 25 years of QantasLink services at Port Macquarie Airport and the new service demonstrates QantasLink’s on-going commitment to the region,” he said.
It comes less than a week before the official opening of the Port Macquarie Airport Stage 1A airside upgrade, which was completed last year at a cost of $21 million.
The upgrade will be officially opened next Thursday.
More information about the new Port Macquarie-Brisbane service is available at the Qantas website.
