Sibraa will officially take over as coach on January 8 and Williams, the man he brought over from the United States three years ago, will be his marquee player. The Supercats are part of the Victorian league in the third tier down from the top-flight NBL.
Although some may assume Williams' path to the team was an easy one, it wasn't, according to Sibraa.
"He had to come down for the trials as well and by his own admission didn't do well at all," he said.
"The club pulled him aside and told him that he was going to be cut but he begged for a second chance and thankfully went out for another trial and was very good."
Sibraa applied to take over the Supercats some time ago and said that the club had been fantastic to both him and his family.
"I'm ecstatic and think that the club is very professional," he said.
"It's a massive opportunity for me and I can't wait to start."
Williams, 25, was thrilled to be a part of the team and move forward with his career.
"I'm very excited, especially to go down with the same coach who brought me to the country," he said.
"He allows me to be me and being a point guard we think the same.
"We have a very good relationship on and off the court and my game has gotten a lot better because of him."
Sibraa said that his star player should be under no illusions as to how difficult the opportunity would be, with hard work the key for Williams.
"Mo will definitely have to stand up next year," he said. He will need to shine amongst the locals as our import player and I have no doubt he can do that."
