Judges and the audience were impressed with Ben Robinson's presentation in the University of Newcastle Business Plan Challenge grand final.
Challenge director Dr Michael Seamer said Ben delivered an impeccable and exciting plan.
"His product a mobile recording studio was both innovative and focused on an unmet market demand," Dr Seamer said.
"He clearly showed the business was viable and his plan covered all details including finance marketing and legals."
Dr Seamer said Ben's tech savvy presentation, which included his own video advertisement, was cutting edge and appealed to both audience and judges alike.
Ben said he was shocked at the win.
"I couldn't believe it," he said.
"I never expected any of this."
Ben won $3000, plus $1000 for the school, and Ben is offered a $2000 scholarship to study business or law at Newcastle.
St Columba Anglican School business studies teacher Gayle Houlahan said Ben's win was satisfying as it was the third time the school had made it to the final four in the competition.
"He [Ben] has put so much effort into it in conjunction with his HSC," she said.
The business studies class travelled to Newcastle to lend their support Ben's grand final pitch.
Mrs Houlahan hopes the $1000 school prize money will go towards an excursion next year for the business studies class.
