Dickson, a Port City Leagues Magpies fourth-grader, scored 96 against Wauchope RSL, or so he thought.
He bumped into RSL captain John Hamilton, who told him he might have a reason to belatedly celebrate.
"He said 'we had you down as scoring 101 in the book'," Dickson said.
Dickson had the news confirmed on Monday.
It was a pleasant surprise for him.
He thought he'd thrown his innings away with a stupid shot on Saturday.
"I wish they'd have told me I was getting close to 100," he said.
"I might not have gone for that silly shot at the end."
Dickson's Magpies scored 4-312 from their 40 overs at Fairmont Gardens.
Michael Kennedy scored 87 at the top of the order.
Wauchope RSL managed 6-213 in reply.
James Joyce top-scored with 58 for RSL. Hamilton made 51.
Dickson came on to bowl for the last couple of overs and bagged 3-2.
"They said I wasn't going to bowl," he said.
"I said 'that's good, cause I'm stuffed'."
All three of his wickets were bowled.
"I just put them on the stumps," Dickson said.
There were a couple of five-wicket hauls on the weekend, but Port Panthers Pirates third-grader Jarrad Pile led the way with a hat-trick.
Pile's three magic deliveries came on the way to taking 4-10 from his two overs.
His Pirates Mutineers beat the Macquarie Hotel Dolphins by three wickets at Wayne Richards Park.
Pile's Pirates teammate Jordan Best took 5-26 against Bonny Hills in fourth grade.
