The backrower has qualified to play for the United States in their first World Cup bid.
With Shipway's help, the American team has shocked many league pundits by defeating the much more favoured France side in a trial match.
The Port product even managed to get over the line for a four-pointer. Most recently he played an integral role in the 32-20 win over the Cook Islands which was televised yesterday morning.
Shipway topped the tackle count for the United States with 31 for the game.
He is playing alongside other high profile ex and current NRL players such as Clint Newton, Eddy Pettybourne, Joseph Paulo, Junior Paulo and Matthew Petersen.
Shipway's affiliation with the United States comes from his mother Carolyn Boon who was born in Modesto, California.
She moved to Australia in 1964 with her family. The proud mother said it was surreal but exciting watching her son compete in the World Cup and seeing his name spread internationally.
Shipway's brother Anthony has been following his progress through the World Cup.
"It's a pretty amazing once in a lifetime experience," he said.
"And he's been in good form too, he's had a pretty good year so far."
Shipway will turn out again on Monday when the US takes on Wales.
