A FIRE which engulfed a car on the Pacific Highway north of Port Macquarie has been extinguished by crews from the Rural Fire Service (RFS).

A spokesman for Wauchope RFS confirmed crews from Lake Innes and Sancrox responded to the blaze at Wilmaria Road in Telegraph Point at around 4pm this afternoon.
The spokesman said the fire extended from the car to surrounding scrub, and was put out swiftly.
Police were on the scene earlier and all lanes have now reopened.
