Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, in conjunction with waste management business JR Richards, is working on either side of the Hastings River today.
Today the clean-ups will centre on Port Macquarie’s North Shore and Settlement Point some of the areas most flood-affected.
A Byabarra and Ellenborough Rural waste collection will run this weekend.
Waste facilities will accept flood-damaged household goods and debris free of charge until Monday, March 11.
“Council would appreciate if residents could separate materials as much as possible,“ a spokeswoman said.
Separating green waste from household waste is particularly important as this will reduce the amount of material needed to be sent to landfill.
