THE search is on to fill a key position to help shape the future of health care in the region.
An external recruitment organisation is helping Mid North Coast Local Health District to work towards securing the best candidate to take on the job as Port Macquarie Base Hospital general manager and Hastings Macleay Network coordinator.
Mid North Coast Local Health District chief executive Stewart Dowrick said the health district wanted someone with good leadership skills and who had been involved with significant change management given the exciting developments within the health district.
Capital works projects across Port Macquarie and Kempsey total $190 million, and with that comes an enhancement of services and a bigger workforce.
“We welcome suitable applicants from within the region and across Australia,” Mr Dowrick said.
It is hoped the successful candidate will start work in April, depending on their circumstances.
The job advertisement said key responsibilities encompassed leading major expansion and capital works, service and workforce growth and contract management of a significant public private partnership of outsourced pathology, radiology and pharmacy services.
Applications close on February 18.
Kathleen Ryan is acting in the position during the recruitment process after which she will return to her role as director of clinical governance and information services.
She said the health network was in a great position to be a leader in health care, particularly in regional NSW.
Ms Ryan said it would be great for the community to have access to advanced and highly skilled areas such as the cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
Former Port Macquarie Base Hospital general manager and Hastings Macleay Network coordinator Jeff Pattinson has taken up the project director’s role to assist in the capital works projects at Port Macquarie and Kempsey.
Bronwyn Chalker acted in the hospital general manager and network coordinator position for a good part of the past two years.
She has taken up the role as director of allied health and hosted clinical services.
