The Sharks have a new coach for 2013, in Phil Trembath, and with some new players signed, things are looking exciting for the club.
Geary played under another ex-Shark, Matt Shipway, at South Newcastle. Trembath said he would be an exciting addition to the Sharks’ ranks.
Geary can play in the back row, along with five-eighth.
“He’s a goal-kicker, too,” Trembath said.
Geary and any other new players will join a strong Sharks nucleus containing the likes of Joel Asher, Michael Bright and Tyrone Nelson.
Trembath said he couldn’t wait for training to get underway.
“Not putting the cart before the horse, but I think we can be competitive this year,” Trembath said.
Training is on at Oxley Oval, kicking off at 6pm.
Trembath said the players would be working hard.
“We’ll hone in on fitness,” he said.
He encouraged interested players to come along, especially women for the league tag team.
Bob Davidson is taking charge of the Sharks’ reserve grade outfit this season.
Wayne Grant will look after under-18s, while Paul Chaplin takes on the women’s league tag team.
The club has a possible trial match against the South Grafton Rebels on March 23.
