Emergency services were called to Bartlett's Reserve in Bonny Hills at about 7pm last night.
A 39-year-old man was treated at the scene, stabilised and flown to John Hunter Hospital.
A NSW Ambulance paramedic said the man was suffering from compound fractures to both lower legs and suspected spinal injuries and was in a serious but stable condition.
More news as it comes to hand.
The injured paraglider was flown to a Newcastle hospital for further treatment.
