Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service nursed Georgia back to health after she was found injured and pregnant at Kempsey.
Georgia is shy and would suit a couple or single person or someone with older children.
She is just one of about 15 cats and kittens looking for new homes which will be on display during open day at PETstock Port Macquarie on Saturday, January 5.
The adoption fee is $150.
Adoption forms will be available on the day.
Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service volunteers are caring for the cats in readiness for their adoption.
Cat coordinator Jenny Brown encouraged people to attend Saturday’s open day at PETstock Port Macquarie in Lake Road.
The open day from 10am to 1pm is expected to be the group’s biggest of the year following the kitten and holiday season when many animals become unwanted.
The cat breeding season leads to dumped pregnant cats and unwanted kittens.
“It’s so typical,” Mrs Brown said.
“We would also like people to come through [the open day] to see the impact of not desexing your cats,” she said.
More than 20 kittens have come into the non profit group’s care care from December.
Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service, which started six years ago, is dedicated to the welfare of domestic animals.
Rescued cats and dogs have found new homes in Port Macquarie and beyond.
For example, cats from the Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service have been adopted by people as far as Tasmania, Canberra and and Perth.
The group sent a dog to a new home on Lord Howe Island.
“We are doing our little bit for the town,” Mrs Brown said about the group.
“Being small, we can only do so much.”
The group’s dogs and cats are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, and flea and tick treated.
