One in isolation after second gastro outbreak

ONE patient hit with gastroenteritis during last week's outbreak at Port Macquarie Base Hospital remains in isolation.

The patient is expected to get the all-clear tomorrow.

In all 11 hospital patients were diagnosed with gastroenteritis at the height of the outbreak.

Port Macquarie Base Hospital staff became aware of a fresh outbreak of gastroenteritis at the hospital on November 18. The outbreak lasted five days.

Staff put infection control measures in place to contain the virus.

The hydrotherapy pool and outpatient services were closed but have since re-opened.

The latest episode was less severe than the September gastroenteritis outbreak.
