The 58-year-old was a definite crowd favourite with his chiselled physique and entertaining routine.
Dye claimed the masters (over 40 years) crown from Port Macquarie's Peter West and Leo Salvaggio.
Port Macquarie duo Brett Hopkinson and Brain Jones also performed strongly in the men's athletic division.
Hopkinson placed second behind Jason Kozoczynski with debutant Jones taking out third.
The championships - incorporating the National Amateur Bodybuilding Association Australia (NABBA) and World Fitness Federation (WFF) - focussed on bodybuilding, figure and fitness divisions.
More than 30 competitors took to the stage at the championships, which was attended by NABBA president Graeme Lancefield.
Organiser Phil Anderson said the event was an outstanding success.
"We had more competitors this year and I'm positive the Classic will be even bigger and better in 2003," Anderson said.
"There were some excellent battles in a number of divisions while powerlifter Joe Giampaolo, one of the strongest men in Australia, and guest poser, Mr Universe contender Windon Loumoli, certainly created plenty of interest.
"It was also great to see a number of local competitors from Five State Fitness taking the stage."
