As an adjunct to the Youth Championships, the U12s conducted its own round robin series at Tuffins Lane over the June long weekend against teams from Pittwater and Cronulla.
All teams performed well, however Hastings clearly held the advantage and emerged the victors at the completion of the weekend, having only lost one game.
Pitching throughout the weekend for Hastings were Michael Hales, Brad and Laurie Jackson, Adam Cecil, Addam Greenaway, Blake Owen, Scott Harrison, Jazz Brady, Rhys Longbottom, Sam Flanagan and Tom Christie, while catching duties were performed by Bradley Spicer and Anthony Price.
Completing the line-up were Jackson Tatnell and David Marsh, who both gave their best in their first outings as representative “live” ball players.
Strong batting from all team members kept the Sydney teams on the defensive. The Jackson boys hit consistently well throughout the weekend, chalking up several three-baggers.
The U14s also took this opportunity to play, its opposition being a combined Cronulla-St Patrick’s team, and played one game per day and gained valuable game experience before the beginning of the representative season.
The following players have been selected to represent Hastings Baseball in the 2001 representative season:
