The two-day tournament, to be televised on Fox Sports at a later date, boasted a $15,000 prize purse.
With Raymond Terrace reaping the spoils, runners up Warilla pocketed $3000 and equal third Cabramatta will take home $1500.
The best performed singles (Taren Point), pairs (Soldiers Point), triples (Kempsey Heights) and fours (Westport) each collected $1000.
“The finals series was played in extremely difficult conditions, strong wind, rain and under lights,” The Westport Club’s sports administrator Shane Globits said.
“The underdogs from Raymond Terrace showed their win over powerhouses Cabramatta in the semi-final was no fluke, by beating the mighty Warilla in the decider.
“Cabramatta boasted four internationals (Rowan Brassey, Matthew Gallop – New Zealand; Ryan Bester – Canada; and David Holt – England), while the fifth member of the team was Ben Morphet, who was awarded the 2009 NSW Emerging Player of the Year.
“Warilla was bolstered by the likes of Jeremy Henry (Irish representative and former world champion) and top Australian Ian Taylor.
“But, the blend of youth and experience from the Raymond Terrace team shone through.
“They produced an exceptional display of bowls, which saw Mathew Bause (NSW U25 representative) and Brendan Baker (NSW Reserve representative) go bowl-for-bowl with (Ian) Taylor and Mathew Sargeant of Warilla.
“Meanwhile, Jamie Minter, Clay Parker and Lennon Scott hung onto a narrow win over Henry’s team to secure the victory.
“This event was a first for The Westport Club and NSW.
“It was well-received by some of the best players in the country – and will now become a permanent fixture on the bowls calendar.”
