Twelve months after Port City lifted the crown, the Warriors gained sweet revenge in the A grade women’s decider, running out 2-0 victors.
Natasha Costigan and Joanne Beames posted the winning goals.
In an entertaining men’s decider, the Rovers thumped Tacking Point Thunder 9-5.
The two top-placed Port Macquarie sides in the Premier League faced off for the local title, providing a high-scoring affair that thrilled the crowd.
Both teams went goal-for-goal until the Rovers took control of the game in the final 15 minutes.
Best for Rovers were Craig Maltman, Dean Taylor and hat-trick hero Peter Gleeson, while goalie Warren Ryan, Jarrod Smith and Luke Hough shone for the Thunder.
“It was a great match,” Gleeson said.
“The Thunder boys really stuck it to us.
“And, to their credit, we just couldn’t break away from them for most of the game.
“But, the guys put it all together in the end – and we ran away with it.
“It was good to get a win up, especially after the disappointment of losing the Premier League semi-final.”
