The Rydges Mid-North Coast under 19s tackle Northern NSW 15s at 10.45am, while the Rydges Mid-North Coast first grade outfit faces a Jets NBN youth select team from 12.15pm.
The Football Mid-North Coast representative concept, the brainchild of Chris Turner in 2006, was heavily supported by several key people in the community.
Both fixtures are curtain-raisers for the A-League Pre-Season Cup showdown featuring the Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory.
Due to the success of the event last year, the Jets decided to return and make Port Macquarie one of its regional destinations for the pre-season.
"The matches give local footballers a chance to show their skills and gain possible opportunities for further selection," Rydges Mid-North Coast first grade coach Michael Chandler told the Port News.
"After last year's encounters, there are now 10 players in the Newcastle NBN League.
"Ironically, former junior Matt Pratt has been selected for the Jets NBN youth select side to play against us this weekend."
Chandler and assistant coach Marty Ansell are very excited about the challenge ahead.
"A couple of standout players for Mid-North Coast are co-captains Josh Peir and Paul Clarke," Chandler said.
"Their ability to lead the side around the park and skill with ball is second to none.
"The squad has also been strengthened by blooding some new talent such as Port United's Tom Adams and Riley Lang.
"The under 19s are just as keen as the firsts.
"Port United's Matt Mifsud and Basil Bullock, from the Westpac Port Panthers, are the youngsters to keep a close eye on.
"Most importantly, this weekend is all about opportunities and making the most of them.
"Everyone is very excited about the prospect of playing with the best in their local competition.
"It would be remiss of me not to thank major sponsor Rydges and all parties involved who have made this concept a reality."
Gates open from 10.15am with the main game – Newcastle Jets v Perth Glory - to kick off at 2.30pm.
