Five fires were deliberately lit during an afternoon spree in the Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park, at the southern end of Horton St.
But within 15 minutes of arriving, members of the Port Macquarie Fire Brigade contained the blazes.
Station officer Geoff Peacock said a member of the public walking along the park’s boardwalk reported the fires at 12.58pm.
Eight firefighters in two fire engines responded and soon had the fires under control.
Fire fighters also were called to a fire in the park at 8.30pm Wednesday night.
Police are investigating the cause of the blazes.
