The accident happened between a car and a truck on Darkwood Rd where two people were reportedly trapped.
Roads and Maritime services have advised motorists to delay their journey and avoid the area.
Diversions are in place through the Pacific Highway from Bellingen to Port Macquarie and the Oxley Highway to Walcha and the Thunderbolts Way/New England Highway to Armidale.
Police and emergency services are on the scene.
