With skyrocketing COVID cases around our region, I can't help wondering at the Government's ability to think logically. Knowing full well the huge numbers of irresponsible and unvaccinated people in and visiting our community, they rely on "personal responsibility".

Knowing full well that the vast majority of COVID positive people are young folk who - mostly - don't have much to worry about, they are given the "freedom" to catch the virus and bring it back to the elderly folk in their family and the community in general.
We are seeing the consequences right now. Then, by actively encouraging the reopening of society and failing to anticipate the inevitable rush on testing prior to holiday travel, AND failing provide anywhere near enough tests, they are effectively refusing the community the capacity to know who is, and who isn't COVID positive. We are seeing the consequences right now.
So now, personally, as a 74 year old, I cannot any longer trust any person, any location or any event, in case I'm unlucky enough to catch the virus.
Virtually every person of my age has the same fears and no longer feels safe anywhere in the community.
We have been thrown to the wolves!
