A Port Macquarie music group is ready to entertain people who attend the internationally renowned Tamworth Country Music Festival in January.
Khristina Joy & Z CHORDS have been selected to perform as an act as part of the festival's Tailgate Session, featuring buskers from around the country on the back of a Toyota LC70.
"We're very excited," the group's founder Khristina Joy said.
"It's hard to contain our excitement."
The band has already had a busy start to 2022 after being asked by the Westport Club to perform 21 consecutive performances.
They will do their last performance on January 16, prior to travelling to Tamworth on January 17.
"After a terrible hiatus where there was nothing due to COVID-19, now we're raring to go," Ms Joy said.
"This is just priming us for Tamworth."
Ms Joy is one of seven musicians who will travel to Tamworth for the festival.
"We're going for fun, to spread the word, just have a really good time and see what it is all about," she said.
The ukulele group released their first album in 2021 and the festival will also give the performers an opportunity to play their new songs.
Organisers of the 50th Tamworth Country Music Festival say the event is committed to going ahead, with all aspects that can safely proceed under current Public Health Orders.
Ms Joy said members of the group will wear their masks as much as possible, except when performing and will follow NSW Health advice in terms of taking appropriate precautions.
The festival is on in Tamworth from Friday, January 14 until Sunday, January 23.
