The Kockatoos were locked in a ding-dong battle with Stockton all weekend where both crews alternated between second and third place.
Boat sweep Steve Monaghan said it was a satisfying weekend.
"The boys were really competitive and were in a ding-dong battle with Stockton where we got second in one race, then they got second in the next, then we had two second's and then they had two second's," he said.
"We tried a few different things in the under-23s where we had no pressure. A few things worked and a few didn't."
The club's under-23 women's crew improved which resulted in regular mid-race finishes to provide a change from the opening two rounds.
"They improved from the last outing and hung around the leaders for most of the races," Monaghan said.
"We picked up constant seconds and thirds and there was one fast boat out there in Cooks Hill ... we never caught them.
"They've still got a long way to go, but they're definitely heading in the right direction. We were as quick as everyone else."
Wauchope-Bonny Hills also had a successful trip to Tea Gardens in the reserve men's division.
"They're rowing very nicely and their boat speed is there. They crawled over a couple of big ones and caught a couple of big ones as well," Monaghan said.
A Mid North Coast branch carnival will be held this weekend at Tacking Point before North Cronulla hosts a state selection event on December 17.
"We'll take the under-23 men and women's crews and see how they go," Monaghan said.
The surfboat season recommences on January 8 before the Collaroy Young Guns is held the following day.
"Collaroy is one of the best carnivals on the calendar for the juniors so it'd be nice if they didn't have North Coast the day before," Monaghan said.
"It makes it difficult for us to get to Sydney on the Sunday after racing on Saturday and then be back for work on the Monday."
