Four or two-person teams will race in the Camden Haven on Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.
Teams will navigate and traverse the course from checkpoint to checkpoint by foot, mountain bike and kayak in eight, 20 or 36 hour categories. Athletes can also race solo with a support crew in the eight hour course.
Race director Richard Old said newcomer and professional teams are in their final stages of preparation.
"We are looking at about forty-five teams or 150 racers signed on for the last race of the season from south-east Queensland, NSW and Victoria," he said.
"It's certainly not as warm as we thought it would be and teams will be gearing up accordingly for the wet weather before they head out.
"We are working closely with the Camden Haven Sea Scouts and Wauchope Scouts who are running some transition areas for us. We are happy to support them with a fundraising donation after they have had a disrupted year during COVID.
"Camden Haven Marine Rescue are taking care of water safety during the water sections.
"The only issue is flooding to an extent that we couldn't move around the course in the event of an emergency. If we couldn't safely move around the course, that would be the only reason to cancel a section or the race."
Mr Old said spectators will be able to view teams finishing at the Dunbogan finish line on Sunday morning.
"The eight hour teams start at lunchtime on Saturday so we would expect to see them finishing around 7pm on Saturday night," he said.
"The 20 hour and 36 hour teams will be expected to return around 7am or 8am on Sunday morning. People can grab a coffee and breakfast before making their way over to Dunbogan to see some tired people coming into town.
"We are still looking for any local organisations or businesses who want to be involved, we can certainly accommodate that."
The event is organised by Fully Rad Adventures and kayaks, paddles and PFDs are provided for competitors.
