Leaders Leap Port Macquarie will take place on Friday March 11 after a three year hiatus, and will see leaders' abseil 9 stories and raise money for the Rescue Helicopter.

"It's all about having fun, but also reflecting on the work of the Rescue Helicopter crew who regularly winch people to safety from the bush, ocean and hard to access locations," said Mid North Coast Regional Partnerships Officer Richard McGovern.

"We hope even if heights isn't your thing, you might consider conquering your fears or nominating a colleague or friend for the event."

The Port Macquarie event comes after 18 months of disruptions to face to face community fundraising activities for the Service, including the temporary suspension of volunteering, events and workplace talks, leaving a significant shortfall in vital community fundraising. Participating leaders will need to raise $1,500 for the Rescue Helicopter, helping provide critical aeromedical services to the communities of the Mid North Coast and Northern NSW.

Port Macquarie Council Mayor Peta Pinson took the leap in 2018 despite a fear of heights and says it's an experience you won't regret, and offered some words of advice to those taking part.

"The mark of a true leader is to trust one's own instincts. Embrace the challenge before you and leap into the void fearlessly knowing that you're ready for anything that awaits you."
