The program that features music by Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Australian Dulcie Holland is presented by pianist Jeanell Carrigan, Sydney Symphony violist Rosemary Curtin, rising singing star Ines Paxton and founder of Philomusica Goetz Richter.

Sydney Symphony violist Rosemary Curtin will perform Holland's viola sonata written in 1932 on the Australian viola (made by AE Smith) on which the work was likely first performed by Sydney violist Rosalind Gumpertz.

Curtin and Carrigan who recently recorded the Holland sonata for CD are excited about playing it for a live audience in Kendall.

"The violist who played in the Sydney Symphony in the 1930s onwards and to whom the sonata was dedicated was good friends with the composer, Dulcie Holland," Carrigan says.

"Performing it with a current Sydney Symphony violist on the same instrument in Kendall will be extra special."

In addition to sonatas by Brahms and Holland, the program will also feature songs and romances by Clara Schumann performed by the talented young singer Ines Paxton and violinist Goetz Richter and smaller works by Dulcie Holland.

The performance at Kendall School of Arts Hall at 2pm is introduced in a philosophical pre-concert talk on music and Identity commencing at 1pm by Goetz Richter.

Attendance at the pre-concert talk is free with admission to the concert.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Kendall National Violin Competition.
