Two rounds will be played before there's a free weekend for Easter (April 15 to 18).
Group Three chairman Wayne Bridge said this is expected to be confirmed at the annual meeting to be held Sunday at the Wingham Services Club.
He said chief executive Mal Drury has put together a number of draws for clubs to consider.
"It will depend on what grades the clubs have and how many rounds they want to play,'' Mr Bridge said.
"We'll know more on Sunday.''
Mr Bridge maintains that playing a two-and-a-bit round competition can lead to problems.
"We could have two sides in line for fifth place at the end of two rounds. With three games left, one team could play the top three sides,'' he said.
"It would be the same if we had two sides fighting it out for the minor premiership.''
Mr Bridge believes two rounds, with two weekends set aside for postponed games - including the June long weekend - works the best.
This would result in the grand final being played in early September, which he thinks is the optimum time to finish the competition.
"But in the end it's up to the clubs,'' he added.
Mr Bridge has confirmed he will be standing again for the chairman's position although there is a strong possibility this will be his last term.
