There was no premiership or even a finals appearance after the pandemic brought an end to the season back on August 14, but there was little doubt Douglass was the best player in the competition.

Douglas polled 18 votes across the season where he claimed a number of man-of-the-match honours and subsequent three-point votes in the Breakers' matches.

This was despite their inconsistent results which allowed him to achieve a pre-season goal. Jordy Worboys from Old Bar was second with 16 votes

"It's nothing I've won before but I set out a goal to get it. I always thought I was good enough, just had to put it together," he said.

"It didn't really come as a surprise because I train pretty hard for it and I stuck to what I know."

The former Macleay Valley Mustang said it was a difficult season with the uncertainty surrounding whether it would be completed.

In the end they couldn't quite get there.

"The season was pretty difficult because we were up and down, but we just had to keep going," he said.

"The losses always motivate you, but it was frustrating knowing the side we had just couldn't put it all together."
