The in-fighting was and is still a disgraceful memory for residents of this LGA during this term.
The inability of our council to work together was for a greater period of this council term completely unacceptable.
It is a sad indictment that "warring factions" have dominated and ruled this term which affected the ability of council to function the way it should. Egos and power struggles have interfered in what should have been good governance within council.
How can the community in this LGA continue to trust and support a council where in-fighting was the order of the day?
The community has every right to be angry and as a community we deserve better from our elected councillors.
Can the community be assured that the workings of council will improve if we continue to vote for the same candidates who seemingly cannot work together?
All councillors must be held "individually" accountable for the decisions they make on our behalf irrespective of factional loyalties.
The community needs to put all candidates on notice that the community will not stand for another term like the last.
As a community we need to vote in a new group of councillors who can invoke change and are not part of the histrionics or petty politics of the past but are committed to serving their community well into the future.
When we vote we must all use our votes wisely. Whoever we elect, let us hope they represent our community in a manner that is respectful and professional in the way they conduct themselves in the public domain.
