Supporters attended the official opening of the Port Macquarie pop-up shop at 86 Horton Street on November 5.
The association is working towards a purpose-built Port Macquarie Surfing Museum, which would bring together all surfing disciplines, and preserve the rich surfing past and beach culture.
The pop-up shop presence raises awareness of the group's plans and showcases the evolution of surfing.
But the volunteers are looking for a new pop-up shop location as the Horton Street shop has been sold and the group has to move out about January 12.
Port Macquarie Surfing History Association president Alan Jeffrey said the association had a couple of prospects in its search for new premises.
The association formerly had a pop-up shop in another Horton Street location before moving to Lighthouse Plaza and then to 86 Horton Street.
"When the opportunity arose in Horton Street, we jumped at it," Mr Jeffrey said.
"We are pleased to be there, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas and the early part of January."
The Horton Street pop-up shop has experienced a trebling in visitor numbers compared to the Lighthouse Plaza location and even more visitors are expected leading up to Christmas.
The association has explored several site options for its permanent purpose-built museum and remains focused on making a location at Oxley Reserve near the Mid North Coast Maritime Museum a reality.
The surfing culture and the significant people and milestones throughout the surfing eras would be celebrated at the surfing museum under the plan.
Mr Jeffrey said the group recently had a really good meeting with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
The association is attending the night market, Hastings Summer Waves, to raise awareness.
The Hastings Summer Waves market runs every Wednesday until the end of January from 5pm to 9pm, weather permitting, at Town Beach.
