The 19-year-old said he had been holding out on a sign to continue in the sport, before he was added to the 14-man cricket squad which will travel to the T20 Regional Bash in Ballina on December 4 and 5.
This will be his first appearance in an open-age team as the Stingers face Northern Rivers, Northern Inland and Coffs Coast as they aim to earn the right to play at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
"To be honest before we had these trials for the Stingers I was going to give it up because it wasn't really going anywhere and I wasn't getting noticed," he said.
"I'd already had an offer from Wauchope and Port Macquarie, but at that time I rejected them because I wasn't sure whether I was going to play.
"As soon as I played the T20s and I started to make the teams to get into the Stingers it became a fifty/fifty chance to keep going and take that opportunity further.
"I'll have to see where it takes me, whichever club I play for now depends on who gets to me first."
Adelt previously played for Camden Haven Cricket Club throughout his studies at Camden Haven High School.
"I played cricket throughout my years at Camden Haven High School in the under 14s team and the seniors team. Camden Haven High teams were pretty laid back but I remember we always seemed to go alright," he said.
"I used to bat at number three when I was younger but when everyone saw that I could bowl, that side of it was somewhat forgotten about.
"After I was recognised as a quick (bowler) I would normally be put at number ten or 11 in the batting."
Adelt will join a majority of players from the Port Macquarie-Hastings and Macleay in the team, with vice-captain Michael Rees as the only Manning representative.
The full 14-man squad is: Josh Hyde (captain), Michael Rees (vice-captain), Daniel Adelt, Darren Bourke, Ryan Bray, Bryce Cook, Lachie Dowling, Kahlan Duncan, Ethan Hyde, Zac Jones, Mitch Korn, Jackson Korn, Cooper Petterson, Jarrod Prosper.
