Aussie Battlers - Pay It Forward and Camden Haven Community at 3 are facing an increased demand for help this festive season after devastating floods in March and the crunch of a local housing crisis.
Karen Sparkes, from Aussie Battlers - Pay It Forward, said the rising rents, flood damaged houses and investor buyers are pushing local families onto the street.
"We're going back to assisting people who have been affected by the floods and they have been through so much this year, they deserve to have some cheer in their lives," she said.
"People are struggling and there are more than 60 people homeless just in our area in the Camden Haven. We're talking about people and people's lives, families with children are sleeping in their cars.
"They have nowhere to go and housing will only give them 28 days relief, what are they supposed to do?
"We are in a really bad housing crisis and we are not getting anywhere. In Sydney and Melbourne they have undercover areas where emergency beds and shelters can be set up, but we have nothing like that here."
Aussie Battlers provided 350 Christmas hampers to vulnerable people last year and expects to need more than 400 this festive season.
The group distributes food clothes and shoes from donated funds and was instrumental in assisting residents during the recent floods and NSW bushfires.
They are working together with Camden Haven Community at 3, a charity which provides a place to reconnect for homeless, lonely and disadvantaged people in the Camden Haven.
Community at 3 chairperson Theo Hazelgrove said the group has estimated at least 63 people are homeless in the Camden Haven.
"There are a lot of families in need and we are setting up a Giving Tree campaign for donations and we are pooling resources to help the people left behind," she said.
"We will be on duty over Christmas and we have a volunteer team ready. We're also setting up a Christmas barbecue behind Laurieton United Services Club at 3pm on December 15 for members of the community.
"We have the heart to help people and we want to help people, but we couldn't survive without the support of the community, LUSC, Kew Corner Store and our generous sponsors."
